Pet Memorials

When you want an especially unique and reverent method to memorialize your animal companion, Pilot Mound Design can provide that specific monument to commemorate the memories you have shared.

“Considering our loss, we were so thankful for the respect and care Karl showed for our situation.”

Pilot Mound Design has the distinction of being the only facility able to direct-mold a three dimensional sculptural reproduction of your animal companion, producing a treasured cast metal memorial. These memorials can be a precious accent to your outdoor garden, a fixture in your home, or can be placed at the interment site of your pet. If you have need of an urn for your pet’s ashes, our memorials can distinctively serve that purpose as well. Please feel free to inquire for more information about how we can work together to complete your pet memorial needs.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How will my pet be treated?
Pilot Mound Design will treat your pet with the utmost respect and deserving care that you require. Our associates are pet owners and are instilled with the empathy to ensure that all phases of the memorial process will respect your companion’s memory.

How do I get the remains to your facility?
Pilot Mound Design can send a shipping kit to your door for you to place the remains in and have it sent insured Fed Ex back to us. The other choice is for one of our associates to pick up the remains and hand-deliver them to Pilot Mound Design for preparation. Either method will utilize frozen cooler packs to ensure the material integrity of the remains in transit.

What happens to my companion once it arrives at Pilot Mound Memorials?
Simply, we will create a non-toxic, non-invasive sand mold around your companion’s remains…not much unlike making a sand castle. Once it is set, the sand mold is removed from the remains and prepared for casting. Hot metal (or any destructive methods, for that matter) NEVER comes near the remains.

What if I want a special casting made…or several? Is that possible?
It is Pilot Mound Design’s job to ensure that you, the client, are satisfied with the memorial you desire. We can add raised text (a special psalm, passage, poem, date, or your pet’s name to the casting). If you want a special pose, we arrange for that as well. When we discuss design, you will find that we can accommodate your wishes to personalize the memorial as you see fit. Multiple castings can be created as well.

What choices do I have for metals and finishes?
We can cast an impressive array of metals. With over 15 years of art foundry experience, we can have your memorial cast and finished in any of the following:

  • Aluminum
  • Brass -green oxide, brown oxide, grey oxide, black oxide finish
  • Bronze -green oxide, brown oxide, grey oxide, black oxide finish
  • Copper -green oxide, brown oxide, grey oxide, black oxide finish
  • Monel -red oxide, black oxide finish
  • Iron -red oxide, black oxide finish
  • Steel -grey oxide, red oxide, black oxide, navy oxide finish
  • Stainless Steel
  • Chrome Steel

Note: Any of the metals can also have a high-polished surface (natural metal color only), a washed finish (any color with the natural metal as polished highlights) or a painted surface (solid color with no metal showing) finish. All memorials are sealed to suit indoor and outdoor environments.

What will my final casting look like?
Depending upon the metal and the choice of finish, our associate will discuss the choices with you. Once a decision has been made, we will cast and finish your memorial. A digital proof will be sent to you for final approval before shipping. We will make sure you are fully satisfied with the results before we ship.

What happens to my pet after the molding and casting processes are finished?
If you choose to have the remains cremated, we can arrange to cremate them at our facility or have them shipped to a cremation/funerary business of your choosing. We can ship the remains back for you to inter or cremate as you see fit as well.
